Dilmah the pioneers of tea gastronomy, is calling on the hospitality professionals, chefs and mixologists (bartenders) from Hong Kong and Macau to be a part of the Dilmah Real High Tea Challenge.
First developed by Dilmah’s Fernando family, Dilmah Real High Tea Challenge is our quest for the quintessential 21st century ‘real’ high tea. If you are part of the culinary, hospitality or bartending industry this is your chance to own the ultimate title in tea gastronomy and tea mixology. A fete indeed, considering the ancient tea culture and the rich heritage of tea that reign supreme in the region.
At the Challenge you are expected to create an authentic ‘Real High Tea’ that showcases your mastery of gastronomy and mixology and your passion and knowledge of tea. Tea remains at the centre of your creation, showcasing its versatility and positioning it at the forefront of modern High Tea experiences.
Participants will be judged by a panel of internationally acclaimed judges including Dilhan, son of Dilmah’s Founder Merrill J. Fernando and celebrity chef and Dilmah Ambassador Peter Kuruvita who will award points based on a WACS approved point system. The Dilmah Real High tea is a WACS (World Association of Chefs Societies) endorsed event.
The winner will receive national as well as international media publicity, a spectacular seven-day VIP all expenses paid tour of Sri Lanka – the home of Dilmah, and will also qualify to travel back to Sri Lanka to compete in the Dilmah Real High Tea Global Challenge, due to take place in January 2015.
The Challenge will be held in Macau on the 10th of March and in Hong Kong on the 12th of March 2014 at the below mentioned venues. It does seem a long way away but the sooner you enter the more you time you will have to cook, mix and try new tricks with this amazing herb we all love.
